Did I really watch "The Real Gilligan's Island" last night?

I couldn’t find any other alternative last night and ended up watching the premiere episode. It was pretty awful, but I had to keep watching to see the entire premise. Like a car wreck.

Two teams, consisting of a real boat captain (The Skipper), real first mate (Gilligan), a real ultra wealthy couple (The Millionaire and his Wife), real celebrity (The Movie Star), real teacher (The Professor) and real farm girl (Mary Anne) compete against each other to eliminate their opposite number on the other team.

After their competitions (challenges), the loser is sent to the other side of the island (kicked off the island). How are they not getting sued by the folks at “Survivor”? It’s the same damn show, except that one of the dudes is running around in a red shirt. I'm looking forward to the episode where the castaways are visited by a process server who washes ashore with a cease and desist order from Mark Burnette.

What was fun is that one of the Mrs. Howell’s is vehemently anti-gay. The Professor on her team is gay and she was ranting about him and how he flaunts his homosexuality (he showed people a picture of his boyfriend). There was a funny rap equating gays and bestiality. She had some line about people have sex with snakes. Her ignorance was stunning.

My roommate pointed out the gay-bashing Mrs. Howell is flaunting her wealth and acting like she is different than "other people", however, it’s known that her and her husband have “less than 3 million dollars”. Rachel Hunter (who along with Nicole Eggert play Ginger) has $3M. She probably got that much from Rod in the settlement, much less her model money.

And speaking of which, Rachel Hunter is absolutely STUNNING in the slinky Ginger dress. Zoinks!
